OKTOBERFEST 2018 PORT ELIZABETH
I was fortunate enough to spend this year’s Oktoberfest in my home town in South Africa. If you are in the area the last weekend of October each year, be sure to check it out. It runs from the last Thursday of the month (this is for business groups and must be booked) through to that Sunday (the Sunday is a lunch and must also be booked for in advance). The days you want to focus on partying is the Friday and Saturday from 6pm till late. Tip: go on the Saturday as this is the main day.
You do not have to dress up, but it makes the experience a whole lot more fun. There is a live Umpa German band flown in all the way from Germany. The food is also really good. I had a roll with pork and apple sauce. There is of course beer, a lot of beer! They also have other drinks and Brutel Fruit slushies’ (fruity alcoholic drink mixed with slushed iced).
Around 8pm the band starts and everyone climbs on top of the tables and dances along. It gets full quite quickly so if you want a good seat be sure to be there at 6 pm already.
